"Hexagram: Six-sided figure with inersecting lines. Derived from kabbalistic occultism, Hexagram rituals are common in Magick, symbolizing the angrogynous union of opposites in the completed and divinized male, Adam Kadmon. Widely and erroneously known as the 'Star of David,' the hexagram had nothing to do with King David historically. The hexagram's origin arguably lies in ancient Hinduism. Kevin Gest, a Freemason, wrote: "There is a belief, originating from ancient times, that the hexagram was regarded as a symbol that, because of its six points, defines the creation of the universe: a creation that extends north, south, east, west, up, and down.... while, from the Indian subcontinent, we learn that it represents the united shields of the gods Vishnu and Shiva." Today the hexagram is widely used in the occult, including Freemasonry, Theosophy, Solomonic sorcery, etc., and is said to signify the number 666. "...the hexagram is widely associated with the occult, and is considered the most powerful of Satan's symbols, containing '666'. Occultists also call it the trud and use it in necromantic ceremonies to summon evil spirits." ("The Secrets of the Freemasons, page 45, Bradley) Arguably, even in Jewish mysticism, or Kabbalah, the hexagram means Six Six Six.
